Cardiff Motorhome Handover, Pickup and Delivery

The motorhome you select for your hire will be delivered or airport transfer arranged to take you to the motorhome. Handovers may not be possible directly at the arrivals terminal due to heightened airport security.

Handovers may take place a short distance from the airport at a nearby service station or car park. This will be arranged with the motorhome member before pickup via email. In most instances but not all, the member will greet and meet you at the arrivals lounge and take you to the motorhome. For this reason the member will need your airline flight number and expected arrival time.

Linen and Bedding

The motorhome hire starts from 9am on the start of hire date until 6pm on the end date of the hire. This is clearly stated within our terms and conditions. If for whatever reason you over-run and do not return the vehicle on-time, additional fees may apply. Please allow yourself plenty of time to return the motorhome on-time, motorways and roads maybe busy during peak holiday periods such as Bank holidays. Plus when you arrive at the airport you must complete a return handover which will take approx 40 minutes.

During the pick-up handover the motorhome member will demonstrate the features of the vehicle. This demonstration will be in English and take approximately 40 minutes. On your return at the end of your hire the return handover will take a similar length of time. The motorhome member will be checking that the vehicle has been returned in the same good condition as it left at the start of the hire. It is recommended that you return the hire vehicle in the same condition with full fuel and gas tanks, and have emptied the toilet waste cassette. Please see the damage deposit section within the terms and conditions.

Welsh Roads

International travellers should understand that all road signs within Wales are in Welsh. Welsh is the official first language for Wales within the United Kingdom. Welsh Road signs maybe found in both English and Welsh, on major roads.

Cardiff Handover Times

Always allow 40 minutes for a handover, both for collection and return of the motorhome. During the motorhome pick-up handover you will be shown how to use the motorhome such tasks as changing the toilet cassette and gas bottle changing. When you return the motorhome it will be checked over to ensure that everything is in good condition and fuel tanks are at the same levels as when taken out.

Cardiff Airport Mini History

The Air Ministry requested rural land in the Vale of Glamorgan and setup a war time satellite aerodrome and training base for RAF spitfire pilots for No 53 Operational Training Unit.

Post War, Aer Lingus in the 1950's started a service to Dublin. A new airport terminal was built and flights where offered to Belfast, Cork and continental France. By the early 1960's one million passengers regularly past through the airport on national and international flights.

So successful was the airport that it was transferred from Ministry of Defence to Glamorgan County Council ownership. Shortly afterwards in 1971 the first transatlantic flight took-off from Cardiff Airport. The airport had truly come of age.

Further development took place to the Terminal Building and Control Tower as well as extending the main runway. Ready for the Mediterranean package holidays of the early 70's to 80's.

In the early 90's Manx Airlines established their European Air Route Hub at Cardiff with daily services to key business destinations within Europe and the UK. Scheduled passenger levels exceeded 100,000 for the first time in a single year.

Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra unveiling a commemorative plaque in 1992 to celebrate the airports Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years of flying from Cardiff.

Cardiff Airport today is a strong passenger orientated regional airport.
